“Death to the Dictator” echoes across Tehran and other cities

As the regime staged celebrations after the January massacre, residents across Tehran and multiple cities answered with rooftop chants of “Death to the Dictator” and “Death to Khamenei.” From Ekbatan to Shiraz, anti-regime slogans echoed through the night, signalling that despite repression and killings, public defiance remains alive and widespread.

On the evening of 10 February 2026, as the Islamic Republic held state celebrations following the January killings and Ali Khamenei called on the public to support the regime, residents across Tehran and multiple cities responded with coordinated rooftop and window protests, chanting against the dictatorship.

In various neighbourhoods of Tehran — including Ekbatan, Chitgar, and Shahr-e Ziba — residents shouted:

  • “Death to the Dictator”
  • “Death to Khamenei”
  • “Death to the murderous regime”
  • “Death to the IRGC”
  • “Our hearts are bleeding — your celebration is shameful”
  • “This is the year of blood — Seyed Ali will be overthrown”

The chants spread widely across the capital and were heard in numerous districts throughout the city.

Similar protests were reported in Shiraz, Isfahan, Mashhad, Fardis, Saveh, Kermanshah, Abdanan (Ilam Province), and other cities. In Golshahr (Karaj), large numbers of residents joined in anti-government chants.

In Shiraz, protesters chanted:

  • “Death to the Dictator”
  • “Cannons, tanks, fireworks — the clerics must disappear”

The coordinated rooftop protests marked a defiant public response to the regime’s official celebrations, demonstrating continuing opposition following the January crackdown.
