Let us build mutual aid networks everywhere

Under the current wartime conditions, as the conflict brings increasing destruction each day, people are being killed and injured, and for many, even basic necessities have become unattainable due to severe poverty. Supporting one another has become an urgent and essential task. The regime has abandoned the population and, instead of ensuring people’s livelihoods, is threatening them out of fear of a new wave of protests. In addition to the hardships caused by the war, many of those wounded during the January crackdown by the Islamic regime remain at home recovering and in need of assistance. In these circumstances, people must step in to support one another.

In some cities and neighbourhoods, mutual aid groups and networks have already begun to form, and many compassionate individuals are offering help on their own initiative. This is a broad and powerful force. It must be organised so that the injured, the elderly, the sick, and those unable to meet even their most basic needs can receive structured and coordinated support.

This effort is vital both from a humanitarian and from a political perspective. It reduces suffering while at the same time strengthening solidarity and unity among the people. It is a way of uniting and organising in the face of a regime that is visibly weakening.

Let us act everywhere. Social activists, worker organisers, student activists, doctors and healthcare workers, teachers, artists, athletes, and activists of the Woman, Life, Freedom movement — who have valuable experience in organising — can help mobilise people within their communities and set an example for others.

This is an urgent humanitarian task and at the same time part of the broader struggle. No injured person, no patient, no person in need should be left alone. The more we organise these efforts, expand these networks, and bring more people into them, the stronger and more prepared we will be to continue the struggle against a regime that places no value on people’s lives and well-being.
