“No to Executions Tuesdays” marks week 110; grave concerns over political prisoners

War – Bulletin No.2 –  4 March 2026

The “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign marked its 110th consecutive week yesterday, 2 March, across 56 prisons nationwide.

In its weekly statement, the campaign described the death of Iran’s dictator, Ali Khamenei — responsible for the killing and execution of tens of thousands of people — as the beginning of the end of the Islamic Republic.

In part, the statement reads:

“Under the harsh wartime conditions imposed on our country by this despotic regime, we prisoners consider ourselves alongside the people and share in their pain and suffering.
We believe that despite all ups and downs, Iran is ultimately moving toward a bright future and will never return to dictatorship. The freedom of Iran will be achieved by its people, through unity and solidarity — not by foreign powers.”

The statement also highlighted:

  • The high number of executions and new death sentences issued against detainees from the January uprising.
  • The imminent danger facing political prisoner Peyman Farahavar in Lakan Prison (in Rasht), whose death sentence has been upheld for the second time.
  • Reports of torture and severe pressure on many detainees and the risk of further death sentences.

The campaign once again called on international communities and human rights institutions to address the condition of prisoners — particularly political prisoners sentenced to death — and demanded their immediate release. It urged that the regime’s “shameful and criminal record” be referred to the United Nations Security Council.

The “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign remains a powerful voice against capital punishment in Iran and deserves broad support.

Growing Alarm Over the Safety of Political Prisoners

Today marks the fifth day of war between the United States and Israel and the Islamic Republic. The regime — which showed utter disregard for human life in the January massacre — continues to keep prisoners behind bars while its machinery of execution remains active.

Reports indicate worrying transfers of political prisoners.

Yesterday, the wife of Mostafa Mohammad Hossein reported on social media concerning developments inside Evin Prison. According to her statement:

  • Prisoners convicted of financial offences are to be transferred to Greater Tehran Prison.
  • Political prisoners and foreign nationals are to be transferred to Qom Prison.
  • Ward 209 of Evin has reportedly been emptied, with detainees transferred to an unknown location.
  • Other prisoners, including political prisoners and financial detainees, remain held in Ward 7.

In addition, Special Police (NOPO) forces have withdrawn from inside the prison compound and repositioned around the perimeter and nearby buildings.

These developments have heightened concerns about the possibility of a serious incident and the potential endangerment of prisoners’ lives.

Immediate Release Demanded

The Worker-communist Party of Iran expresses grave concern over the situation of detainees and political prisoners and demands their immediate and unconditional release.

Continuing to detain prisoners under wartime conditions is a blatant crime.

The regime must be pressured to release all prisoners without delay.
