12 January 2019 in Iran: protests over unpaid wages in different cities

On 12th January 2019 the following protests took place:

Chavibdeh: Municipality workers of Chavibdeh in Khuzestan province, Iran, held an assembly in front of the municipality building to protest against non-payment of four months of their wages.

Tehran: Expelled drivers of a transport company in Abadan in Khuzestan province, Iran, held an assembly in front of the company’s main office in Tehran. 80 to 90 workers who had lost their jobs 6 years ago never received the wages they deserved. In their 20 to 25 years of employment with the company, which is owned by Social Security Investment Co, the workers only got paid for missions.

Tehran: Retired workers of Kian Tyre held another assembly in front of the Ministry of Industry in Tehran and protested over their outstanding pension money. The retirees who are fed up with the empty promises of the authorities chanted “We don’t want promises, we want our right”, “Incompetent authorities, resign, resign”, “We stay here until we get an answer”, and other slogans against embezzlement.
