Ali Nejati, sugar cane workers’ representative in Iran, taken to hospital in shackles

On 5th January 2019, Ali Nejati, the jailed sugar cane worker and member of the board of directors of the Haft Tapeh syndicate, was transferred to hospital for medical attention in Khuzestan, Iran. His wrists and ankles were shackled.

Ali Nejati condemned the insult and said that he would not appear in any hospital or even in court.

Miss Farzane Zilabi, the solicitor of the Haft Tapeh sugar cane workers, said that the harsh conditions  Ali Nejati  has to endure, have put his life in danger. Ali Nejati was arrested on 29 November 2018 by order of the prosecutor of Andimesh city and the Ministry of Intelligence for “new charges”. Miss Zilabi says that the continued detainment of Ali Nejati has worsen his heart and kidney conditions and has put his life at risk.
