Petrochemical workers in Khuzestan, Iran, shut down the factory over non-payment of wages

On 11th March 2019, petrochemical workers of Masjed Soleyman in Khuzestan province, Iran, held their 3rd day of strike and protested against non-payment of their wages.

The workers had previously raised the issue with the company but never received an answer, therefore they went on strike on 9th March.

The director of the company (who is Chinese) has said that the wages are available but the Iranian company and employers refuse to pay the workers. The workers feel that they are being passed around and that the employers try to embezzle their wages. Currently, the factory is shut; all heavy equipment and generators are switched off.

The workers, whose contracts are with different employers, have stayed united and say that they will continue with the strike if their wages are not paid.
