Bloody meeting at the Kremlin

by Mostafa Sabber

Ebrahim Raisi was received by Putin at the Kremlin. Blood drips from every finger of this President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Raisi was the head of the Death Commission that killed several thousand political prisoners in the summer of 1988. How much of this mattered to Putin? Not a bit. Putin’s fingers are no less bloody than Raisi’s. The point, however, is that Raisi sat politely and obligingly at the court of Putin. The Iran nuclear talks, for example, are currently underway; they too, of course, without any regard to the blood being shed. Putin can use the ‘Iran card’ to his advantage in the global equations. The Iranian regime, for its part, is hopeful that sending Raisi for an audience with Putin could help give it leverage in the nuclear negotiations. In short, the whole affair is bloody, is inhuman and must be condemned.

No doubt, meeting the murderous president of Iran’s Islamic regime adds another page to the dark record of the capitalist mafia ruling Russia in the eyes of the people of Iran, just as granting political recognition to Raisi by states and the UN was met with their loathing and disgust. The Islamic Republic is the murderer of the people of Iran. It has no legitimacy and must be boycotted by all states and international bodies.
