The working class is the representative of humanism against the inhumane system of capital
As we approach the International Workers’ Day, I send my greetings to the workers in Iran, workers throughout the world and all the freedom-loving people!
May Day is a day on which the working class displays its unity, determination and power in the struggle against the inhumane capitalist system, highlighting its decisive role in emancipating society from the rule of capital.
For the overwhelming majority of the people all over the world, capitalism has brought nothing but austerity, poverty, lack of rights and all kinds of discrimination, disaster and inequality. The greed of capital for profit has even pushed the Earth to the brink of the destruction. The livelihood and dignity of billions of human beings and the very survival of the Earth and its inhabitants depends on breaking up a system which has no other aim and motivation but ever more profit-making, resulting in the piling up of wealth in the hands of the ruling 1%, and absolute austerity, poverty and privation for the 99% of the people of the world. The root of all the hardships affecting the people lies in the domination of capital – a fact now more clearly visible to all than any time before. To free itself from poverty, discrimination and lack of rights, to build a free, equal and prosperous human society, and to regain its will, humanity must emancipate itself from the political and economic rule of capital. This truth puts the working class at the centre of all the social struggles and protests everywhere. The banner of liberation from capital and for building a free, equal, prosperous and human society lies in the hands of the working class.
This key role and place of the working class is nowhere more apparent than in Iran under the rule of the Islamic regime of capital. The strikes and workers’ protests, which, especially over the past few years, have taken on unprecedented dimensions, paved the way for the recent mass, general movement which has turned the impending overthrow of the Islamic Republic into the social discourse and the talk of even the regime’s officials and factions.
In all this, the working class represents the aspirations and demands of the vast masses of the people who are fed up with capitalism’s barbarity. Not only workers, but women, young people, pensioners, students, writers, artists, families of political prisoners, those who have lost their loved ones to execution, victims of state corruption and embezzlement, the LGBT people, people branded with various ethnic and religious labels – in one word, 99% of the people in Iran – want to get rid of the Islamic Republic. And victory in this struggle calls for the leading role of the working class.
In the tumultuous and momentous days that the Iranian society is currently going through, uniting and organising in a political party is absolutely crucial for the working class in order that it may place itself at the head of the revolution that is taking shape in Iran. We should step forth in all the fronts with the weapon of radical critique of capitalism and its Islamic state to lead, and bring to victory, the rising of the people until the overthrow of the Islamic Republic and the smashing of the inhumane capitalist system. To accomplish this critical task, I call on all workers to join the ranks of their own party – the Worker-communist Party of Iran.
Once again, as we approach the International Workers’ Day, I send my greetings to workers, and all people whose freedom depends on joining the ranks of struggle of the working class for prosperity, freedom and socialism.
