Iran- Workers’ activist Parvin Mohammadi has been released on bail

We are pleased to report that Parvin Mohammadi, vice president of the Free Union of Iranian Workers and well-known workers’ leader, who spent over one month in custody, was released on bail on 4th March 2019.

We congratulate Ms Sharafodin, Parvin’s mother, who passionately and fearlessly defended her daughter and all political prisoners. Congratulations also go to Parvin’s sister and friends and everyone who fought for her freedom. Without the campaign and everyday resistance she wouldn’t have been released.

Parvin Mohammadi and Jafar Azimzadeh, director of the Free Union of Iranian Workers, were arrested over allegations of “propaganda against the regime” and “actions against national security”. The accusations have come about because of their defence of workers’ rights and everyone’s entitlement to a humane life.

Parvin has been released but Jafar Azimzadeh is behind bars with a 6-year prison sentence.
