Participate in Protest Gatherings of February 26!
The Islamic Republic of Iran is going to hold elections for two state bodies on February 26, 2016: the “Islamic Consultative Assembly” or the parliament, and the “Assembly of Experts”. We declare that this show is only a mockery and the so-called elections are sham only. Any political group that shows the slightest deviation from state line or policy in Iran, let alone opposition, is faced with draconian measures by the state, including prosecution, threat and harassment of oneself and family members, expulsion from work, imprisonment, torture, slow death due to lack of medicine, execution, and assassination. There is no legal opposition in Iran; all candidates are chosen by the state through several stages of filtering; many of the candidates are rejected as “unsuitable”.
These elections, aside from being a farce, show the state of disarray in the Islamic Republic. Different wings and factions of the Islamic regime, a group of state thugs and gangsters, each of which, individually or collectively, has accumulated a heavy dossier of murder, crime, and corruption, are now at each other’s throats in the name of “elections”. They impotently ask people to participate in this ridiculous show. From Khamenei to Rouhani to Rafsanjani to the regiment of state reformists all are trying to increase the number of votes so they can buy legitimacy for their sinister regime. We must defeat this attempt by the regime authorities by not voting and by protesting against the totality of the Islamic regime.
Iranian people living abroad, opposition of Islamic state!
By organizing protests abroad, let us become the voice of millions of people, who mock the Islamic state and its laws in different ways with a grimace. Let us turn 26th of February to a day of exposure of countless crimes of the Islamic state. We should not allow a state which has deprived the great majority of people of happiness to launch so-called elections. We must convince all those who want to participate in this farce for whatever reason not to vote for a group of thieves and criminals, and to join the protest gatherings against this regime.
People of Iran rightly expect from the Iranians abroad to turn voting stations into places of united and cohesive protest against the Islamic regime. A state that answers any demand for justice with prosecution, imprisonment, and torture is not legitimate to hold elections. Our vote is to overthrow the Islamic Republic!
We, along with other opposition parties, will gather at any place where the regime holds a ballot box. Join us in these gatherings along with your friends and acquaintances; and let us tighten the noose on the regime and its agents.
