Salute to the courageous and freedom-loving students

Your powerful uprising across universities, following the memorial ceremonies for the fallen, marks a turning point — not only in the student movement, but in the continuation of the January uprising that the Islamic Republic sought to drown in blood.

The commemorations held from 17 to 19 February, which are still continuing, dealt a political blow to the regime. Not only were they held with significant public participation, but they transformed into openly political gatherings with anti-government slogans, expressed in modern and non-religious forms. Just two days after those ceremonies, with the start of the new academic term, you launched large and determined protests across campuses. Despite pressure and attacks by Basij forces, you expanded your demonstrations to even more universities.

Your courageous protests and powerful slogans — echoing those heard at the memorials — reflect the renewed rise of resistance in society and the ongoing spirit of the January uprising. You are playing a vital role in this resurgence. You have shown that society will not return to “normal.” At the same time, you stood firmly and wisely against a small minority attempting, through diversionary slogans, to disrupt your unity and blunt the sharp edge of your struggle against the regime. You preserved your unity and clarity of purpose.

You are helping to shape the political direction of society and are, in reality, representing the broader public.

Your heroic struggle deserves the warm support of all those who seek the overthrow of this regime — workers’ organisations, teachers, retirees, writers, artists, lawyers, and all honourable people across the country.

On behalf of the Worker-communist Party of Iran, I warmly shake your hands and salute your courage and political vigilance.
