Dear comrade,
We have been informed by the international trade union federations about the struggle of the sugar cane workers of Haft-Tapeh in Iran. On behalf of the Austrian Manufacturing union PRE-GE, representing more than 23000 members in various manufacturing sectors, also in the sugar industry, we strongly protest the repressions against the striking workers.
We urge the Iranian authorities to release the detained workers immediately, withdraw military and refrain from further actions to suppress legitimate workers rights as the right to strike and the right to strike and the right to join and establish workers, council as laid down in international conventions.
Furthermore, we demand that the workers receive their outstanding wages and have their working conditions improved. We express our solidarity and support with the oppressed workers, movement in Iran and demand the respect of human and workers, rights.
