Striking steel workers of Ahwaz in Iran tell the authorities that the workers’ assembly is the platform

On  20th November 2018, workers of the Steel National Group of Ahwaz in Iran held their 8th day of strike. The factory was full of armed and security forces to prevent the workers from leaving the workplace, but the workers got together and forced them back. The excuse for militarising the workplace was that the provincial governor and other authorities want to come to listen to the workers.

The workers held their assembly in front of the provincial governor’s office and announced that if the authorities have anything to say to the workers, the workers assembly is the place to do it.

The workers started their march through the city of Ahwaz and chanted slogans to show that they stand united, are unafraid, won’t give up their rights, stand for justice, are against poverty, defend workers of Haft Tapeh and that the imprisoned workers must be released. The workers speak for the vast majority of the people and represent their demands and objections.
