On 15th January 2019, teachers of “Supporting Schools” (schools that have been handed over to private owners) in Yazd, Iran, held an assembly to protest against the management system of the schools and a delay in the payment of their wages.
The teachers gathered in front of the provincial governor’s office in Yazd to protest against low standards of the schools, delay in the payment of their wages and the way the schools are run.
Handover of schools to private owners started in 2014 and many teachers’ organisations raised concerns about the decision.
