Workers in Qazvin, Iran, protest as government appointed lawyer fails to defend them

On 27th January 2019, workers of lock manufacturing company Ghoflkar in Alborz in Qazvin province, Iran, held an assembly in front of the Lawyers’ Association to protest against the failure of their lawyer to defend them.

The workers had tried to file an official complaint against the employers for non-payment of their wages and were introduced to a lawyer by the “House of Labour” which is the Islamic Labour Organisation in Iran. However, the government-appointed lawyer failed to defend the workers and they were left with no option but to protest.

The workers had already held another protest in front of the judiciary office in Alborz on 22 January 2019.
