Wife and son of kidnapped activist arrested and protestors attacked by armed forces in Iran

On 5th November 2018, a group of protestors including family members of Hashem Khastar, the kidnapped activist, gathered in front of Ibn-e-Sina psychiatric hospital and called for his freedom.

The protest that was called by the Teachers’ Association was attacked by armed forces and 8 people, including Hashem Khastar’s son and his wife, Mrs Sedigheh Malekifar, were taken and currently no one knows about Mrs Malekifar’s whereabouts and condition.

Hashem Khastar was kidnapped on 23rd October and a day later his family found out that he had been admitted to the acute ward of the Ibn-e-Sina psychiatric hospital in Mashhad.

On 29th October 2018, the Coordinating Council of the Teachers’ Association released a statement about the kidnapping of Hashem Khastar in which it stated: “If building up cases, insults, accusations, summoning, arrests and imprisonment of teachers is not stopped in Iran, teachers will not leave the humiliations and abuses go on without a response.”
