On 6th January 2019, a group of retired sugar cane workers of Haft Tapeh held an assembly to protest their still outstanding “severance pay”.
The retired workers gathered in front of the office of the company’s general director and demanded the payment. The 95 workers who were retired between November 2017 and February 2018 never received their severance pay.
The workers say that after many years of carrying out this arduous work they deserve to be paid. The employers say that the company doesn’t have money but the workers find this excuse unacceptable.
